409L stainless steel is a kind of ferritic stainless steel.
The chromium content of 409L ferritic stainless steel is 10.5%~11.7%.
This chromium is the most important alloying element in the production of 409L ferritic stainless steel.
It can form a passivation film on the surface of 409L stainless steel, making 409L stainless steel corrosion resistant, and improving its oxidation resistance, wear resistance and tensile strength.
409L ferritic stainless steel needs at least 10.5% Cr (weight%) to form a reliable chromium oxide surface protective layer with self-repairing ability. The higher the chromium content, the stronger the passivation film.
If the surface of 409L stainless steel is damaged due to processing or carelessness in the atmosphere or water, this passivation film can be formed again immediately.

409L stainless steel is a kind of chrome-nickel stainless steel with large application space, which has satisfactory corrosion resistance, heat resistance, low temperature strength and mechanical properties. It can effectively resist corrosion in atmospheric environment, but if the surrounding area is industrial atmosphere or heavily polluted area, the materials should be cleaned regularly to prevent corrosion. It is very suitable for food processing, storage and transportation, and its processing performance and weldability are also very good.
409L stainless steel has strong resistance to corrosion, high temperature and fatigue, and can realize the lightweight and prolong the service life of exhaust system components.
